MORE ABOUT US:
My love for Persian cats began while I was volunteering at the local shelter in Torrance Ca. I was about 13 years old. I became enamored with the Persians and their laidback personalities over the 3 years and this began my journey. However, so many had serious breathing problems due to the breeding preference years ago. I felt there would be less Persians in shelters, if the problem was addressed with the breeding.(I was obviously not the only one as thankfully the open expression became popular.)
I became friends with one of the Persian rescuers and started helping her show with CFA for several years. My first kitten was a male cameo and sadly learned all about FIP. 2 years later, I bought a stunning white coppered eyed girl, from an International show in Los Angeles CA. Next I bought a stunning black smoke male and started my first cattery named Gemini Gems and my very first 2 kittens were named Opal and Annie. I showed my first to just championship but sadly my son was allergic and after only 2 liters, my hobby was set aside.
When that same son graduated from High School and off to boot camp USMC,
I started the hunt again... Buying a female show cat and knew it was the restart. Sadly my old cattery name was not available. So - I decided to use the names from my very first kitten from so many years earlier. 'OpalAnnies' of California.
When we relocated to Arizona 10 years ago
Then last year I was thrilled my daughter LaRey (and family including my 3 awesome grand daughters) decided to join the team with 2 western Arizona locations. So I in turn wanted to make a name change for us to:
